Part-out, sell, or fix?

Ok well I wrote a big like 9 paragraph topic but I'm pretty sure noone would want to post a reply after reading that... so I summed 'er up.

Recently i've been struck with bad luck. My paint is peeling like crazy, I hit a deer going 50  but only dented the fender miraculously, bottomed out coming out of a driveway and completely severed my exhaust after the cat, and just a few days ago some middle aged mom in a minivan smacked my door with her mirror as I was getting out and dented it, so now my door doesn't seal correctly.

It's a Mechanical/electrical problem free 1993 GS 114k miles with ALL the power options but power folding mirrors. I've bought a sony headunit w/1400w amp and 2 12" Eclipse subs professionally installed less then 3 months ago, and alot of little odds and ends like poorly mounted Apillar Pod with 2 gauges and blue/silver pedals, etc.

Should I sell, part out, or fix? which would get me the most money back because that is my main issue, I'd rather sell or part out because I could really use an AWD car considering I live back in the boonies and have gotten stuck 3 times now in snow...but I do love this car to death. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Thats a tough call.. You dont say where you are located other than in the boonies.. so its tough to say how popular the car is there. Fixing it back to "Nice" Would probably cost $2k unless you have a buddy that can paint the car for you. However.. it would be a complete shame to let a GS with only 114k miles on it that is mechanically sound. I think the first thing I would do is hit the MX-3 Related Items for sale or trade forum and see if you can source a fender and a door cheap. If you can get the body parts cheap and put them on yourself.. well then getting it painted might not be such a big deal. I think the main thing I would be the least likely to do would be to part it out. I dont know how much you have into the car.. but Unless my MX was totalled I dont think I could just rip her apart and sell her piecemeal. If I was in your shoes.. I would either sell it or fix it.. she is too young to die ;) Best of luck.

its up to you. if you enjoy the car and love it like i do mine i would keep it . if you just want to make profits you can sell it part it out its up to you. if you dont want to deal with it all i would just sell it to someone else on here and it would make a nice project

I think I'm going to just see if I can get an ok deal from another user on here, I don't want her to end up a parts car or going to someone who is just going to not appreciate her for what she really is. So anyone on this forum that would want to take her off my hands just pm me, i'm open for any offers so.

Thanks for the tips guys n gals

So you need a door and fender and a paint job. Well the previously stated 2000 sounds about right to fix it. Did you not make an insurance claim when the lady hit you?
I'd say fix it. Atleast you like the car and it would be in good looking shape after the fix the body and paint. I have a Celica that has more damamge than that. I'm keeping it because the engine and trans are in great shape and the body I'll fix myself. It might take me a few tries to get the painting thing down, but atleast it cannot look much worse than it does now. Besides, what do you think you can get for the car. 500-1000 at most.

yeah 500-1000 sounds about right. which sucks because I paid 2500 for it about 7 or 8 months ago, but what can ya do. and as far as the insurance goes no I didn't file a claim because 1 I don't have collision and 2, my dad would have to make the claim as the insurance and title is under his name. He is a lazy a--(can I say that?) to be completely honest so even if told him it would never get done. I've been thinking about it lately and to get a ice curvy car like ours, and something that noone else around here has...that's got some pep and a nice paintjob with no problems is gonna run me more then I could ever get for selling my car. I'm going to keep her and just fix her up little by little even if it takes a year...

thanks for the advice guys,
