hi guys
after reading your articles on ATM I installed an oil cooler (plate fin)
and I bought an gasket sump and oilfilter from my local mazda store.
what I got was ametal cannister with a seive inside. (see photo)
If this is the correct part why cant they just be cleaned?
or was I given the wrong part?

You need to drop the trans pan and compare them. I've "heard" that some Mazdas don't use filters at all. I've never dropped the pan before, but seeing how they have a part for it would make some sence.

yup, that looks the right part, there are two shapes of auto casing though, your gasket may or may not fit

with these trannys being as fragile as they are??

dunno 'bout you, but i'd rather pay $50 every 1-2yrs than $1000+ to rebuild/replace!
