Huh? :?

Power locks work both sides no probs. Are you saying you got power locks that only work on the drivers side? So is this a repair or a mod?

If you can be a bit more specific about it we might be able to help...

I think he might be talking about when you lock the car fromt he driver side it locks both doors ( mine does this ) and you are unable to lock the passanger side only the driver side is the only one that can lock it.

For keyless entry - you would probably need a kit like this

If you already have power locks then you would probably have to splice into the driver side lock(limit) switches to make it work. i think only the driver side has those lock position sensing switches and hence the driver side can lock both doors.

I converted my manual windows/locks to power windows/locks/keyless entry/remote trunk etc a while ago. Here's the link..

P.S. - why is this in the car stereo section?

Yes. the power locks controller and keyless entry controller are integrated - so i put them in at the same time. Its actually a cool system - the controller has wires coming out for "lock", "unlock" and two other extra buttons on the keychain - i wired up the third button to a trunk popper - so i can open my trunk (keyless) from outside the car.

did u need an actuator?

Yes i needed one because i didnt have stock power locks. If you already have power locks then you may not any actuators for the keyless entry system. For the remote trunk you will need a relay and a trunk popper.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the gs power locks are actually power ASSISTED locks. ie. there's an actuator on the passenger's side activated by a switch in the driver's door upon locking/unlocking, but none in the driver's door. converting to keyless requires you to buy actuators whether you have an rs or a gs. good luck.

instead of getting just a keyless entry why dont you get an alarm w/ keyless entry for less than $50 from http://www.asianwolf.com You can get an alarm with keyless entry for $39.

I put a new keyless entry system into my mx-3 about a month ago and it was a pain in the a--. If you want to have your driver door unlock, you have to run the line to the actuator inside the door, this is where it gets tricky. The plug for the wiring is sealed in a rubber boot and a connector plug against the shell of the car = Hassle.

All I did was used my dremel, pulled off the car side of the boot, loosend the white plug a bit until I could see open metal and using the wire attatchment, drill out a tiny hole to feed the wires through. Feed them through the boot, same on other end.

Installed actuator on this side could have been easier but was no biggie. Totalt time for driver side, about 40 minutes completed.

Passanger side was way easier. It had the wiring ran, it had a lock actuator installed already so all I did was loosend the two 10 mm bolts holding the actuator caddy, pulled it out of the door, mounted my NEW actuator to the caddy, crammed it back in - fastened.

The wiring for the passanger side eneded up being a pain in retrospect but it was worth it anyways. I pulled the glovebox and the far right pieces of the dash trim off so I could trace the skinny as hell Green and Red wire which feed the old actuator inside the door. Spliced into this with some shrink connectors and plugged in my control unit. I was happy as hell.
Total time for passanger side - 30 minutes roughly.

I went to a local car shop and got an alarm installed that had the ability to do keyless entry, and then added the actuator to the drivers side door.

I have power assisted locks, so whatever the drivers side does, the passenger's side does.

I will reiterate what a previous poster said about there being a very tight connector where you can run the line and you have to drill it. I let a professional do it to make my life easier and they didn't charge me extra labour as they were already installing the alarm.

I can recommend that you get a nice forceful actuator though as the rods it pushes/pulls can be stiff sometimes. It costs a little more but is worth it.

True. There is like either 2 pr 3 different rods connected ( forgot. ) to the lock system and they all move at the same time. I just blasted everything with WD-40 and called it good =)

When my JDM "driver side" door panel comes in, I'll take off my stock panel and take pics of ym ghetto actuator setup.
