Hi everyone, new MX3 owner, (well, about 4-5 months) and still lovin it.

Had my winter tires placed today, my garage told me there was a crack in the 'rack pinion boot', should replace it before winter and the salt comes. Makes sense? How much can it cost, I hear he has to dissesamble a lot of stuff. As you see, I'm zero in mechanic, thx a lot!

Is the rack and pinion boot the rubber next to the wheel and the brake system? If it's that, with my hands, I really can't find a crack anywhere. (Told me there was a little crack somewhere)

Check out page N-17 here
http://www.mx-3.com. Shows a diag of the rack/pinion boot highlighted and the outline of the CV (Constant Velocity) joint boot located where you described - that you might be mistaking for the R&P boot. G'luck.
