ECU Help

Anyone know where i can get a ecu reprogrammed or maybe a ecu swap
or even a performance ecu i have a 94 mx 1.6 Dohc and i want a higher
redline and no speed limiter. Thanks folks

Don't Corksport do it? If your looking for an aftermarket ECU it will cost a bit...
ECU upgrade rip off...

Corksport charges $750.00 for ECU upgrade according to them, a "NEW" board is needed and involves a lot of programming.
For me, its a total BS cause for a few hundred more you could buy a MicroTech or Haltech standalone unit.
I found this guy from PR who will program them, but is another hassle as well. It will eliminate rev limit only at WOT. Its useless cause when you shift and let go off from the gas the vehicle is no more at WOT, so instead of rev limiting it will shut down because it will be beyond rev limit range and shutdown the car.
IN OTHER WORDS, better leave it like it is.

Well you can snip the wire that limits the speed. There is no ECU that gives you a higher redline. Your redline IS where it is. You can have an ECU that doesn't give a damn that it is there though. The only Ecu's that corksport offers a repogram for are the 6 cyl. ECU's. So I guess the qute they gave you was a special deal. But I can't see it being that much higher than reprograming a K8 ECU.

Check out CorkSport and you will understand. They only offer a V6 and KLZE reprogrammed ECU. You send yours and they send it back with better fuel maps and VRIS points. Any how, I was saying that if they quoted him a price on a 4 cyl ECU it must have been a one time deal that they worked out with their reprogrammer. (I can just about guarantee you that CorkSport doesn't do this in house.) I was saying that this might be a reason that they want so much money to do it. I guess that I wasn't offering a solution only trying to shead light on why it might be so expensive.
The first part wasn't contradictory was it? The engine has a redline assigned to it which is the point at which Mazda decided the engine internals should handle no more. Putting in a New Ecu, you could tell it that the redline is 14,000 if you wanted to, but that doesn't mean that it is.

I know exactly where it is on the k8. If you have a 4 cyl. though I am not sure. I can try to look for it in my shop manual but you would be better off seeing if a 4 cyl guy knows.

actually corksprt is doing 1.6L dohc ecu's now!! They gave my a quaote for $315!!!! They are still working on some things so im not 100% sure what all they will be doing but they are fooling around with redlines!!!!

I am not trying to be a prick. Just got to thinking that I could be confused on what red-line exactly means. So I double checked myself. Dictionary.com said:
red·line ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rdln)
v. red·lined, red·lin·ing, red·lines

To reach the maximum engine speed at which an engine is designed to be safely operated: The car redlined at 80 miles per hour in fourth gear.
They can change the rev limiter to exceed the recomended redline of a cars engine but there is still a max engine speed (RPM) that the engine can
safely operate at. Changing the rev limiter only allows you to get yourself into unsafe territory. Or If you have a built motor...which should have a higher red-line...the higher rev limiter or lack there of would allow you to run higher revs to tap the engines potential.

that is why i am changing my redline....motor built for it!!! As to someone who doesnt have the motor for it i dont really know about doing that!!
