Anti-Drop Shifter Bracket for 5-speed cars

I know a guy who makes these badass brackets that basically fit any FWD Mazda. He designs & makes them himself out of steel in his machine shop.

Anyways, these fix the notorious "my shifter fell through the floor WTF" problem that plauge all FWD Mazdas up until they addressed it in the later 1990's models like the 3rd gen protege & 626's.

Just posting here to see if there is interest in these. I have one on my MX-3 and it kicks a--!

These fit ANY 92-96 MX-3 / Precidia

If your damn shifter falls through the floor, get one of these! These actually work better than drilling through your floor since they keep the shifter where it should be, isolated from vibration. Drilling a hole through the floor & shoving a bolt through it works, but the shifter will vibrate more. This is much easier, just thread a bolt through this bracket & you are done, it does the rest!

Here are pics of the bracket:

Here it is installed:

I was putting on a new shifter knob and gave it a bit too much force. It must have been close to letting go. From what I can see it looks like a small strip of rubber was all that was holding the whole mechanism together and from falling down thru the floor. I can see how this would corrode over time and probably become brittle and break easily.

Thanks for finding this Gro.

i have a pic somewhere of the crappy linkage removed from the support plate....

just two crappy rubber bulges hold the entire thing to the plate..its pretty ridiculous.

mazda kept it 100% rubber to keep the shifter from vibrating, since it is basically hard-bolted to the tranny which can vibrate while cruising.

Simple, inexpensive fix ... I like it, I'm in. Sometimes think mine is going to go through the floor too.
