okay, so im looking at buying this mx-3 gs 5spd (v6) from a guy in good old Nova Scotia. It's a 94 but its got some trouble spots... like... crack in the back bumper, not too much, but noticeable. ripped seats, both front seats and some of back are ripped a little. the engine has 256k on it.. i think the guy had a klze engine swap done to it though. it just got a new coat of cherry red paint on it, its lowered, has an exhaust, tinted windows, and is already wired for a system (which isnt included). stock rims. i saw this car for sale awhile ago and it looked pretty neglected. but i think the guy did some work since then.. he wants $3700 for it which i think is totally unreasonable.. i would be willing to give him $3000 for it (this will be my first car)..

i wanna know if you guys think that this car is worth whatever hes asking, and if there are anymore questions i should ask or anything.
thanks.

First you have to check what modifactions he has done to it because if its a kl-ze its a good deal if its in good condition....ask him when he did it how many kms aprox, what ecu he has and get as much info as possbile....u can pick up at full body kit for 700$(cheapkitsdirect.com) dollers shipped to your door and u can get a kl-ze with all the parts and installed for $1800 canaidian.....so i would get this car for 3500$ ...because they usually go for around 5 g canadain stock....so even if the engine is shot and not a klze ....u could buy it and put one in :-)...then u have a super fast mx-3 lowered tinted and system for just over 5 grand thats a steal...

What does the car look like, and where in NS is the guy who owns it? I'm from Halifax/dartmouth, and before I moved to Ontario I knew just about every MX in the area. I even junked one at J&R auto salvage in Lake Echo/Porter's Lake area. The guys there had another MX come in and they rebuilt it using parts from my old one, and it was in not that great condition.

well, i live in Truro, and the guy lives on the native reserve just on the outside. theres plenty mx3's around but its hard to get your hands on one for any less than $3500. the problem is that im only 17 and i dont have my hands on a whole lotta cash, gotta take a car loan of 6000 or so, so i was just thinking it would be better to buy one with all the stuff done to it already. i was looking at kits from cheapkits direct and i love the blitz front anyway, its always been on of my faves.. this car looks good, but all the extra parts that it might need.. (new engine, seats, whatever else) might set me back.

if ur low on cash then the expensive engine repair or engine swap may put u in debt

Well, I would say keep looking. It's very possible that one in very good shape will come up for sale for around the same price. I do know of at least one person in halifax with a ZE but I don't think he's selling. It woudn't be unheard of to pay 5k for a ZE mx.

I wouldnt buy it unless if it was for about $1000 cheaper.
-Too many miles
-Bad Condition
-I bet the car was driven hard

i'd say keep looking, this cars sounds like its going to need some major work, and it sounds like it could have had a rough life, not worth that $$

Freeway miles are the kindest miles you can put on a car.. If the car was properly maintained, then I wouldnt worry to much about the higher miles. When you go to look at the car, try to meet the person who drove it the most (for the long distance driving) and see if you can tell from his/her overall behavior how he/she drives. Let them test drive it with you in the car.. if they drive normal.. its probably a good indicator that they didnt beat on the car too much. Maintenance records would be a huge plus of course. Best of luck.
