I am not even sure I need to change my oxygen sensors, but I am getting bad gas mileage.

I get about 22 mpg city.

How do I know if it is the oxygen sensors?

Can someone show me a url where to buy them?

It only lists one of them though, I assume I don't just buy two of them, and that there are two separate parts, one of which this site does not carry.

What are the normal prices for oxygen sensors?

Typically the O2 sensor start fail at about 60000km. If you that a '91-93 with a single wire O2 the only way the CEL will trigger if the wire is cut off from the sensor. Changing the O2 sensor with increase MPG significantly and you will gain a lot of lost HP back from where the ECU goes into the fail safe mode.

If you have a single wire O2 convert to a 3 or 4 wire O2. The get up to operating temp faster and don't cool off are idle or at low rpm when helps to increase MPG and power even more.

Ok, sorry to add to my own thread

I am now assuming I only need 1 for the 4 cylinder mx-3.

I was quoted $30.00 for the part at an auto parts store.

I assume I just unscrew the ond one, and screw in the new one.

Will I just get the sensor part?

Then I just cut off the old wire off the old one, and crimp on the new one?

If the part I get is a 3 or 4 wire sensor, how do I hook up the other wires?

well as far as i know the 4 cly. only has 1 o2 sensor. and yah all you do is unscrew/screw in. 30$ is about average. and you will get the sensor with a wire connected to it. but im not sure how to switch from 1 wire to 3/4 and i would like to know lil more info?? plz

Ok, I switched it today.

I cut the old one as close to the sensor as possible.

Unscrewed it with a 7/8" ring wrench (was able to since the wire was cut).

It was easy, and once I got it turned a full turn, I unscrewed it the rest of the way with my hand.

It may have helped I sprayed it with



the night before, just in case.

Once removed I screwed the new one (single wire) hand tight, then I screwed in the new one with the wrench, although I tightened the new one very tight.

Then I stripped off some insulation of the wire from the old one and slipped on the included shrink tubing.

Then I put the stripped wire in the connector of the new one, and crimped it tight.

I slid the shrink tubing over the crimp, and heated it with a lighter.

I reset the ECU for good measure, and will see how my mileage fairs from now on.

I noticed it idled better at lights as well.
