Heya guys.
I've got a problem with my shifter. Anywayz here is the story:

I was driving down casually from the store after I picked up some milk for my mom, and all of a sudden my shifter (The rod and the whole thing) Just drops a few inches and starts to bounce up and down when i hit bumps in the roads. I can still shift properly and everything but its not right. So I drove home thinking that maybe the screw that holds the whole thing from under the car just came off. Anywayz I jack the car up and check it out, seems that the mx-3 doesn't hold the shifter in place by a screw but instead by a piece of plastic off the side which just shoves right in. I found that odd, so I pushed the shifter back in with my hands and it stayed there firmly. I take the car for a spin and everything is fine until I hit a speed-bump or something bumpy for that matter. It falls out and begins to bounce again (The whole shifter drops about 3-5 inches) . So I drive home again and hoist the car up again. This time I check it out throughoutly and it seems that piece of rubber that holds the whole shifter in is basically falling apart. Anywayz my question to you guys is how I can fix this without it ever popping out again? Can I get another piece of rubber like that or maybe I should hammer it back in???

Any thoughts? Help is direly needed...

Thx all!

shouldn't there be 4 bolts holding it to the body of the car???

There are two plastic clips, that eventually break on our cars, it holds the shifter linkage to the car, the reason why it broke is because the " stabilizer " bar attattched to the bottom of the shifter, then again to the tranny, came loose....

Go underneath your car, and drill a hole into the bottom round thing undrneath the shifter, intot he body of the car, secure it with a bolt, this will solve the problem.
