i just installed my gauges and wired them into the dash dimmer dial. Since then...my HVAC lights dont come on, either does the cruise control or rear defrost. Did i wire wrong? I've searched and found that some ppl just spilt the wires and put the ground to some bare metal and the positive to anything that turns on when the ambers are on. If i did this wrong, please let me know the right way to wire these. thanks.

ive got my negative connection on a bodywork screw located directly behind the fuel/temp gauge.
If you take out the factory dimmer there should be three wires a red, a black, and a red and black. Connect the positive of the indigo dials to the red and black cable.
see how you get on with that

yeah i'll try that out, right now its positive to red and negative to black. hopefully this solves everything.

sort of...cept my friend was doin somethin and screwed it up for me. i dont know how he managed to do it, but he touched all three wires and i saw and heard a spark. Next thing i know, no gauge lights whatsoever. I think i blew the fuse. Anyone know what fuse is for the gauges?

oops,
just had look at mine, the fusebox is down in the drivers footwell on the right hand side, the front cover just pulls off revealing the fuses,
the fuse you want is a red 10A fuse labelled as tail it is the top row, 2nd from the left. Hope this helps, there should be some spare fuses in the front cover you pulled off.

worked perfectly!! thanks for the help, everything is good to go and looks great. i just have one last question...my RPM needle looks like it is rubbing against the gauge face and causing it to stick and therefore isnt smooth anymore. did you have this problem? i'm trying to think of how i can fix it. thanks for all the previous help tho! u've been a great help

I brought the speedhut ones and found thay fitted with loads of clearance, so havent had any problems, however i think some people have also had the same problem with the rpm needle when installing the guages. Some people find the the end of the needle just catches the dials and trim that down, and some people have problems with the base of the needle catching and carefully sand the underside down, unfortunately your gonna have to get to the dials again and flick the rpm needle to see where its catching, i would take the rpm dial out cause you dont want to scratch it. Might be idea to take out speedo one off too, just incase you get a sweaty hand, ( you dont want sweat marks on your nice new dials!!) I would leave the fuel/temp,the fact that you got that dial on deserves a pat on the back!!

just a thought, i know some people used adhisive stickers to hold the dials in place, this is gonna reduce your clearance, if you have, get rid of this, the dials will hold fine using the existing screws

so where specifically did you wire it to? I have the smae problem..the gauges come on but not the back lights. I wired it to the dimmer switch.

The positive of the indigos only is wired to the existing dimmer. Connect it to the red/black cable of the dimmer. The two dimmers will work independant and this is how it should be, so the existing dimmer will still dim the back lights inc. heater controls and the indigo dimmer will dim the indigo dials only. Theres a chance the factory dimmer could be defective you could link out the connections on the factory dimmer to check this but im not 100% sure of which ones you would link, i think its the red/black cable to the red cable. This should bring on the back lights, proving the existing dimmer is defective. But like i said without checking the cables with a voltage meter im not 100% sure of the link. The negative of the indigos i put on a body work screw located behind the temp/fuel guage. Let us know how you get on!

another thought just in case, when i quoted connect it to the red/black cable of the dimmer i meant "splice" the connection, the red/black cable at still needs to feed the factory dimmer, so you effectively just tapping off of it. Remember you have three cables at the dimmer a red one, black one, and red/black one. Its only the red/black one your concered with!! I used a splice connection you just lay the cable you want to connect to on a plastic lug, lay the indigo cable next to it and push it together, a spade cuts through the insulation to make a connection. Easy!!

thats how I have it...

if i disconnect the gauses the black lights will come on and not gauges..if I connect the back lights go away... strange..

Have you definately got the negative of the indigo guages to the body work and NOT to the dimmer. If you have then im slightly bafffeled too!! if you can take a pic of the factory dimmer and the connections youve made and send it to
garfy1981@tesco.net. Ive advised atleast 4 members in regards to indigo connections and all been successful. Strange???
