Beater

I went to go check out a 92 mx3 today and it was a total beater. There were chunks of paint missing, dings and scratches all over the place. The spoiler is gone and there is an exhaust leak, and you can take the stick and spin it 360 degrees without it going in gear, but the guy says he can maybe fix the stick. The price is only 1,495 and there is only 115k miles on it. Do you guys think its worth getting for just a point A and B car?

Buy the $400 one from this forum. It prolly runs a heck of a lot better, minus the fact that the rear end is smooshed. A lot cheaper, too.

i'd tell that dude that you'd only give em' 1500 bucks if he can fit the entire car in his butthole first. Thats way too much man. I only paid 2000 for mine and it had 88,000 on it and was in very decent shape. Keep lookin unless he'll go down to like 800 or something

For $1500, you should be able to get a solid running RS. That's what I have, and that's what it's worth. Buy one from this forum, you'll get a better deal.

Dont buy it
Its NOT even worth $1500. More like $700 or $800

Tell the guy he'll hafta pay you more than $1495 for you to even take the car off his hands. If you really want the car, that will establish the proper baseline for negotiating a price.

I'd have to agree with everyone else. That's way too much for something that seems faulty to run. I was able to get my GS with passenger side body damage and some minor yet managable problems but a near perfect engine (it only clicked) for 1000$ He definitely needs to bring the price down on that.

This sounds like perhaps a better buy. However finishing your profile info would help to realize if this is a viable solution.

as a comparison, i bought my 93 rs, (not running) besides that it was allmost mechanicaly sound, (broken coil springs and swaybar links) for 300 bucks.

i still dont have 1500 into the car and its compleatly street legal and running, and modified a bit (check sig) that 1500 bucks includes the prices for all my mods.

if u bought it i think ud run into so many problems i got my car a 94 rs with 220000kms 160-165 compression for free just needed a tranny ud regret buying it seems like it would be a lemon to me-to much hassle get one of the forum their cheaper than others and at least u know its been somewhat maintained. what colour was the oil?,coolant?ask if u can do a compression test and take it to a shop. if he lets u and everything else is okay then maybe but just wait dont buy the first one that pops up there should be much nicer ones for cheaper.my.o2 cents
