Scractch's head?

A Map sensor? ( Mainafold Absolute Pressure ) I have'nt seen one
on the MX3......Mind you i could be blind as a bat...

What code # was it again?

It wouldn't be the air temp sensor attached to the air box, would it?

No, the Barometric Pressure Sensor measures the air pressure OUTSIDE the engine, to compensate for thin air at high altitude (or pressure change associated with the weather).

The answer is on Page F2-84. Why is that difficult?

Ian: A BPS is probably a NA spec item, specifically an American/ California spec issue with reguards to high altitudes - I think.

We must be going by a different shop manual. I'm looking at F2-85 Intake Air Thermosensor (IAT). Coincidentally, something that was removed by the installer of my KLZE and something that I believe I need and I'm trying to track down (today). I'm attributing part of my idle problems to the absence of this sensor and the information in provides to the ECU. A vaccum line in and out, a 2wire connector bundled with the VAF 5 wire connector, that must have a sort of outside air temp sensor. It's attached to the engine side of the air box.
Someone please correct me if I've errored.

(IAT) Intake Air Thermosensor (In Air Flow Meter) - ECL code 10 + 08 maybe
(APR) Atmospheric Pressure Sensor (In ECU) - ECL code 14......pg F2-87

Seems like it - I always quote from the online shop manual, which is 1995. I'm running a crusade to get guys to use it. :D

I think the BPS/APR is used on all the cars.

You definitely need the IAT sensor. Without it, the ECU probably has to operate in "limp" mode.

Limp mode?...................Had to think twice on that one....LOL
Thanks Ian - I thought that missing the IAT would be one of the bugaboos in my idling issues. I'm assuming that when my KL31 ECU arrives that it too willalso look for that IAT. Wasn't successfull in tracking one down yesterday, but as soon as it warms up a bit I'm going to try a few wreckers. Since we share similarities with other vehicles and since finding a V6 Mx in a wrecker will be difficult, are there other vehicles using the same IAT?

I'm using the '92 shop manual (hard copy) that I bought near day one of buying my ride. Will be buying one for the Protege that I bought in December - always a worthwhile investment. I may not know all of the detailed data contained within but it gives me better insight into deciphering the feedback from the repair shops (confirming their diagnosis).
