Problem with HEI ignition module mod

Alright, very weird thing just happened:

I had a problem with my distributor awhile back, and i decided to do the HEI ignition module install, courtesy of Gro Harlem (thank you VERY much this information proved extremely valuable). It worked wonderously, and the car ran fine for a good month or so, but the other day i decided to swap out the stock air box and stick on a cone air filter (mostly just for the hell of it). That very evening, i was driving on the freeway and the same exact symptom of that distributor problem occured, where the car just crapped out on me in the freeway, and started back up againfew minutes later.

Here's where it confused me: 1.) any logical reasoning would point to the intake for any problem that happens that day; but i cnat see how the intake could cause a symptom like that, which is IDENTICAL to the distributor problem. Giving the air nitake the benefit of the doubt, lets assume it was a coincidence and its the HEI module... then 2.) why would it just crap out on me after a month+ of functioning perfectly normal? Theres also another possibility that maybe i broke the module while installing the intake, not entirely sure how fragile the thing is but my father tells me ignition modules tend to break easily. but i can hardly see how MAYBE a quick tap with a handle-end of a screwdriver could screw it up.

At this point im just gonna work my way back, put back inthe air box to eliminate any problem the intake make have and re-check the wiring on the HEI module.

But besides that, anyone else have any ideas on how to truobleshoot this problem..? Thanks

Did you unplug your MAF when you put in the cone? Maybe you should check that connection first.

You'd think if you broke the ignition module it'd stay broken... :?
