Have you guys ever paid someone to swap your engine for another engine (ie, K8 to KLZE)? How much did it cost for you? If you swapped your engine yourself, how long did it take in hours?
How about getting your tranny swapped? How much did it cost? If you swapped your tranny yourself, how long did it take in hours?

I'm just curious...

It took me the best part of 5 hours to pull out the K8 and box
along with bagging and tagging the part/s bolt and connections

its a pretty straight forward though i took the inlet mainafolds off
for greater access, the only hoses that proved to be a pain was the
power steering pump ones

I paid my mechanic to do the swap, and i helped. He had the space, equipment and knowledge. I did the research and ordered all the necessary parts. Took us 3 evening and cost me $1000 for the time ans space.

I had my first one done by a friend that cost me 1000$ . you bet I'm the one who is going to put this one in it. I had the knowledge to do it the first time but it was a long time ago and I was unsecure about it and didn't had the tools too...Now I think I could do it in a day

Took me about a week. But that wasn't a straight through thing. It was like -22 celcious here. I only have a one car garage and I had like 3 feet between the front of the car and the garage door. and taking up that space was my hoist, the ze (and at one point the k8 as well) and my big a-- tool box. When I buy a house I'm definetely getting a 2 car garage!

I had a quote from a good shop around here for ~$750-$800. Back in the day I was gonna let them do it, but I've learned plenty from this site since then.
GUYS! I should be done as soon as I get my IM and Vave Covers back!
ok ok...about two months at most... Still, I'm so psyched! :froggie_red:

I paid Dan(Sac) from Probetalk $500 to swap in a KL03 in my GS. Took a full weekend to do it. I don't have any tools, knowledge, or engine lift to do it. So, it was in my best interest to get it done right. He check everything thouroughly, cause we didn't know what worked on the engine. I paid an extra $150 for parts, belts, and fluids for it. Very happy with the outcome.

I had A-Spec in Toronto do it all. Their website lists details.
