K8 Backfires when cold.. WHY

Post by hgallegos915 »

Ok So ive noiticed this recently. If I just get on my car and go it will backfire. It feels with no power, once I rev it up to 5 k tpms its fine after that. Wont backfire at all. I have new spark plug wires, plugs, cap , rotor. If i warm up the car for around 5 minuted it will not do this..altough sometimes it will. There are no cel light codes stored...any ideas? maybe I need to upgrade to more octane??? or has anyone gone trough this? It only does it when cold.

Check the base timing - Page B2-8.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

ur 02's are fux0red. Get new ones.

Super-cold weather really screws with their readings. And over time they foul out completely, never giving a proper reading :(

happened to my car last winter :-/

universal 4-wires cost about 60 each, but if you go to autopartsgiant.com and print out the price from there and go to advance auto and pricematch, you'll only pay like 44 or so.

Look up the 93 Probe GT btw for the exact 4-wire o2's you need, for some reason they are cheaper than the MX-3 listing even tho they are the same.

You need both front and rear btw...expect to pay over 80 total, but for the savings in fuel econ & performance you get in return.

Yep. They're a different part number, but I think all that's different is the signal wire color. I dunno. I asked for 93 Ford Probe price when they quoted me $80 for a single sensor for the MX3.
