I am new to this forum. I bought a used 92 mx-3 and it shut down on my while I was driving. The car was running hot when it turned off, not in the H zone, but fairly hot. The distributer cap was loose and I thought that was the problem, so I replaced the distr cap and the cables. I still can't get it to work. What should I check? I know it gets spark, all the fuses are good, I think it's getting fuel(b/c I smell fuel from the exhaust after I crank it). I do not know where the fuel relay is, somewhere by the ecu, but where is that? I am absolutely new to mazda cars, I have only dealed with nissans. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

The ECU is behind the middle of the dash - take off the kick panel near your inside foot and you will see it.

Carefully the air intake piping for any leaks - mainly the accordian pipe, its prone to crack. If air leaks in there it won't run. If there are any leaks tape it up with some duct tape. Also check the connection to the MAF on the throttle body.

Good luck.

yea check the harness that plugs on to the MAF. Mine came loose on me one day and took me a sec to figure it out. If it comes loose just a little the car won't run.
