I am having the same trannie problems that everyone on this board is having. my car (93 GS ATX) is sitting dead needing a third rebuild in as many years. Unfortunately, the scumbag I ended up using does not give a warrantee, like aamco does, so I am stuck. Any ideas on where to get a cheap used GS auto, just to get it running? thanks,
-Claude

lol.. aamco. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT
I saw your email but i'm gonna post on here. The only problem with getting a used tranny is the fact that youre gonna run into the same problem again, probably sooner than you would with a rebuild. What i would recommend you do should you decide on a used tranny is to have it conditioned prior to installing it. Depending on your funds, you may wanna look at cryo-treating it. You can expect a used auto tranny to run ya at least 800 though, considering a new one from mazda would run 4000.
BTW, i never got the situation with my tranny resolved. After 6 rebuilds by the famous AAMCO (now pronounced ASSCO), my car died just as i pulled into the nissan dealership to purchase my new alty. Luckily enough the smoke bellowing from the front seal died down and they didnt take the car for a test drive before letting me trade it in. I sure do miss my rides.. probably would miss them alot more if i didnt get robbed the week before trading it in.

damn,
I was honestly just lookin for the used trannie so I can cut my losses and sell it. I'm not rebuilding it a third time. At least you were covered under warrantee at assco. You think anyone would buy my car for parts or whatever w/o a working trannie? Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the know-how to part it out.

wow....thanks. This is a pretty nice site. Now I just need to decide whether it'll be worth the $$ putting in a new trannie, or just scrapping it as it is. Damn Mazda. And to think I actually thought about getting an rx-8 next year.

My old tranny is still at the garage that did my swap. I f you research what the shipping arrangements would be and some money i could help you out. The shop is in Belleville, IL, and the tranny had 90,000. If you are interested i would have them check the fluids first, so you dont waste your time and effort.
