Auto Launch...?

I am wondering how exactly you would launch an automatic... I meen, I know that theoreticly, you just rev, and then pull from neutral to drive (because it doesn't require the button to be held in..)
Has anyone ever launched an auto? I've never heard anyone talk about it. EVER.

I know its bad for it, so I will be waiting to try this until I obtain a tranny cooler. (If I try at all.)

Any input would be great. :D

Holy cow Batman, never neutral drop your tranny. That is a good way to frag it.

One way to do this would is place your vehicle in gear and stage. With your left foot apply the brake while pressing on the accelerator with your right.

Bring up your RPM's just to the point where you think you car is going to starting inching foward or break loose the tires.

Once the tree is green simply release your brake and at the same time nail the accelerator. Off you go!

So this doesn't really damage anything?
Well, I know driving in a racing fashion is going to put more wear on athe car, but this isn't totally bad for it, correct?

By droping your car into gear while you are reving up your engine is very bad for the tranny.

The process I posted is commonly referred to as "Power Jacking". This is a lot safer than a "Neutral Drop".

Don't neutral drop! I used to have a 94 Cavalier RS Wagon that was a 3.1 v6 automatic. It was stock, but that didnt stop me from racing it at the track. I adjusted my rear brakes real tight and the parking brake cable too. This helps for the burn out, lock the e-brake and pound the gas. launch by doing the double foot thing that everyone else said. I also have lauched by putting the ebrake on and revving it up, then releasing it when it goes green, although it wasn't as effective

I just practiced it tonight after work...
(in a parking lot, don't worry.)

It wouldn't work right.. I would hold the break and rev the engine to about 4000, and then release the break, and slam on the gas. It would go REAL slow, like it had a clutch that was engaged a 4th of the way.

Anyone got any ideas?

you can actually launch same, even better with auto transmission as you would with stick, but stock auto tranny sucks for that, you could get aftermarket torque converter if you just wanna drag race your car, it wont be as good driving it on street since you would have car that would accelerate at set rpm by your torque converter.

And auto with upgrades will NEVER launch as good as a manule with upgrades. I've raced (driven) cars with auto upgrades, a torque converter robs ALOT of HP and TQ compared to a clutch, hp and TQ you'd use for a better launch....
