Iam going to the track tonight hopefully if it doesn't rain. Here is the question, what tire pressure do I run to get the most traction?
Here are some stats for the track:
62 degrees
Precip: 30 %
Max. Humidity: 51 %
UV Index: 6 Moderate <p>I have a 2.5 and stock size rims and tires. Iam thinking 28-30psi. Anyone has any input on this?

I have 42 PSI daily driving, and Usually drop is down to 25-30 PSI when running. But thats just me.

heh too many variables really.. depends on your tires, rims, as well as the track conditions.. on mine i run anywhere from 25-30 though.. usually bring a tire gauge and just make a couple of runs (drag racin anyways) to see what is giving me a better 60ft

dude, you should try reading my post more carefully, I did give you all the variables...<p>Anyway, I sucked at the track. Could only get 2 runs in before it started to rain. Had no traction in 1st gear. It's all my fault, I didn't have a chance to check the tire pressure before the run, cause as soon as i pulled in the line, they let us run. So it turned out I had like 40psi in the front. My time was 15.4 at 90mph.<p>Iam going this Friday again, should be in 14s for sure.

Umm dude you didnt give us much.. stock rims and tires.. yeah there is a big diffrence if your runnin say a nice set of yokohomas as rubber vs the best fisk money can buy..

30 daily driving front 22 back, 25 front at the track

just wondering, why would you wanna drop the pressure in the rears? I know you wanna drop it in the front tires to allow for more grip on the drive tires, but the rear onces just follow, wouldnt you wanna keep them inflated as much as possible to reduce friction and (slightly) reduce weight tranfer?

Most people dont adjust there rear for the track they just leave it how they like it for the street.

i ran 15psi on the drag radial and 8 on the new slicks, it's low but the drags did pull a 2.000 60' ande it doesn't hurt your trap as bad as a bad 60'<p>i would say 20psi maybe 15psi, try it and see

That's wht my previous owner had her's jacked up to when I picked up the car in LA. My *** hurt from the 3 hour ride home. When I went through the service reciepts, I saw that the last time she went into service, the lube jockey bumped her pressure up from a previous 32 PSI to 40 PSI. I lowered it back to spec, and the car rides and handles much better.

i daily drive at 42 as well, i find it handles better than 32psi, and my tires say 42 (i know your suppose to read whats on the inside of the door, but i wanted to try it) but i keep at most 32psi on my winters. I guess it depends on what tire you use

The pressure on the tire has nothing to do with what pressure you should actually run. It's a maximum rating. Like you said, you're supposed to use the pressure printed on the door jamb. Unless of course you have upgraded your suspension or changed your tire size, in which case you'll need to change the pressure a little. The only vehicle I've ever driven in with recommended pressures over 35 PSI is a 1 ton truck with a hydraulic dump bed.
