busted strut?

Hey gang-
I just put on my Mazdaspeed struts a couple weeks ago. I noticed a sound coming from the right front when I make left turns, like the strut assembly was loose under there. I popped the hood to check it out, and sure enough, the nut on the strut mount was loose.
The only problem is that when I tried tightening it, the whole strut piston turned with it - so I couldn't tighten it down. Looks like the only way to do it is to take the strut out again, and somehow hold the piston while I turn the nut. Is this a sign that the strut is blown? I just put these things in 2 weeks ago!
Thanks for any input. :)

Is it a popping or clicking noise? And did you put a set of springs on at the time? I don't know about MX-3's but I know some cars (mainly ones with a Macpherson suspension setup, I.E new Civics, mid 90's 626s, Preludes, etc) give off a loud popping noise into turns while the springs "settle."
Or, it could always just be a coincidence and really your C.V. Joints are going. Has the noice been made since putting the struts on or is this recent?
"The only problem is that when I tried tightening it, the whole strut piston turned with it - so I couldn't tighten it down. sounds like a manufacturer defect in that one strut. It should be covered under warranty. Kinda sucks that it would happen right before the meet. Are you still gonna go? I have a busted engine mount that sounds like is gonna shoot through the firewall everytime i take off but i'm still intent on makin it
[ November 26, 2002: Message edited by: Sonicxtacy02 ]

It's not a 'popping' sound, or anything like that. It just sounds like the whole strut/spring assembly is loose under there. And it just started when I put the new coilovers/ MS struts on.
Shaun: I don't know man. Everything was in Japanese when I got the struts. Even the warranty card was in Japanese. I was hoping they'd last a couple years at least, and I really didn't plan on sending them back to Japan for a replacement, ya know? I should still be at the meet, however. :)

sounds good, just dont want a wheel or somethin fallin off on I-95. Then again me, you and jason could probably lift the car to put it back on :D
