S-AFC and 3 wire TPS

Post by maldo »

Found some very interesting info on the limitations of the S-AFC when using the OBD-I ecu from either the '92-93 RS or Pro LX. I have been looking into why the adjustability only seems to allow for cruise and wot speeds, this fills in all the blanks. The testing has been done, now I just need to get a 3 bar MAP sensor (2 bar won't cut it as I already run 15psi...when the car runs ;) )
Here is the link, you will want to scroll down to "spooler"'s post, the info is in the first 2 links.
S-AFC with 3 wire TPS/460cc injectors

Found a site with the needed info to do the MAP mod, looks very simple. This will basically apply to anyone using the S-AFC on a OBD-I ecu.
Fooling the S-AFC

You could run it the same. Check your TPS sensor and see if it is a 3 wire or 4 wire. I believe all OBDII ecus were 4 wire, technically you shouldn't have a problem (although I have heard otherwise). You could just use the MAP sensor so it would rund of the MAP voltage basing fuel adjustments on Boost %.
