Didn't David post something about it?
I'll try to find it back..
From a post David made :
Well, here are the things that you will need.
1. Mazda BPT GTX/GTR Engine (GTR Preferable)
1a. Good ball bearing turbo (I am using T05)
2. Gearbox from 1.8L DOHC Protege (Prepared to blow 1 or 2 of this)
3. Custom C.V joint and drive shaft (Need to be strong)
4. Custom intercooler (As large as possible)
5. Custom stainless extractor with 3" mendral bend exhaust system
6. Wolf 3D ECU (It has wiring harness for this engine)
7. Electronic boost controller (HKS, Apexi, Greedy)
8. Boost, A/F, Water Temp. gauges
9. Heavy duty clutch
10. Brake enhancement (At least pads and crossed rotor for F&R)
11. Custom radiator (I cannot find anything 2nd hand fits)
12. Custom Oil and Air seperator
13. Custom Water overflow tank
14. Good dyno for tuning
15. A lot of spare time and money!!!
With that.. I think you can look around how much those parts cost. Some might be needed when you swap, some might be add later.. So I think..
I'll do some research on those too in a near future..

remember to buy an EGT gauge as well...very important in tuning, and a lot more accurate and faster reacting than an A/F ratio gauge.
Also, custom piping is usually a bit more expensive than 100 bucks.

does the egt detect the intense momentary heat from detonation or does it detect the gradual increase in temp from the car running leaner? just wondering how fast it reads temp.

The EGT when mounted in the proper place will react instantaneously to changing cylinder temps. I have mine mounted in cylinders 3/4 facing mainly into 3. This won't show you "detonation" but alert you to rising cylinder temps that can create detonation if not tuned correctly. This combined with a Wideband o2 and a dyno prove to be a killer combo for tuning.

what temps should i use as a guideline? what's normal? what was your reason for mounting it where you did?
