Well it's been done the other way around with a MX-3 hatch on an RX-7.

already compared the hatches. they look like a really close fit, but when i checked out the angles, the hatch on my rx7 is a little steeper than the mx3 by a few FEW degrees...but could work with a little mod to your mx3 body and a little mod to the rear of the rx7 hatch to make it flush with the rear.
