sunroof installation
sunroof installation
Hi, guys. I was kind of wondering if there are anyone who attempted to install the sunroof (or moon roof) on their car. I emailed one company, but have not had any responses, yet. Assuming I find all the parts I can get from the junk yard including moon roof panel, rail, motor. If you have any idea or dare to make a hole on your car, please response.
Bungo
Thanks for reading.

Re: sunroof installation
hey. i've done this to my car, thought i could help. the first time i wanted a sunroof. it was cheaper just to get one aftermarket, and i had a company put it in. cost me about 200 bucks and it hasnt leaked at all.
now, i want a moonroof. since my dad has a salvage yard, i have a moonroof from another mx3 i thought i could put in. i called and amazingly, its cheaper if u just put in an aftermarket moonroof. thats gonna cost me about 800, but i was told from all the places i checked that it would be twice that if i was to use the one from my other mx3.
hope this is some help.
tiffany
YES that IS my M׳, NO you can't drive it.
Re: sunroof installation
I've always wondered - what is the difference between a moonroof and a sunroof?
Re: sunroof installation
So, what kind of sun-roof is it? Is it like the one pops out a little bit or the ones which roof itself hides in the ceiling? And $200 does not sounds bad at all, and I assume it's us$. About the moon roof installation, what cost so much? Does that $800 include the parts from the salvage yard or all labor fee?
Bungo
Thanks for your reply.

Re: sunroof installation
hey! i technically only paid 150, cuz the roof i got was on sale, it was suppose to be 200, the one i got isnt really small, it covers the whole two front seats, and it just pops up...u can see it when its up, u can also take it out if u wanna.
i asked the same question about the moonroof. apparently its harder to cut the hole in the roof or somethin? i guess cuz they know the measurements of the aftermarket one and not the stock one. another thing, my dad owns a salvage yard so i get the moonroof for free, as a customer those things get really high.
if u're just gettin started, i would get a sunroof. they arent all that bad and they do look good on the car. email me and i can send ya picture of the aftermarket one in my car.
tiffany
[ October 11, 2002: Message edited by: SoDangPretty ]

Re: sunroof installation
I have not had a chance to talk to the sunroof shop in my town, yet, but based on what I found on the internet, this is not what anybody can do in their garage. Even the pop-up sunroof, we have to be careful or ruin the whole ceiling.
bungo
