you can get your steering wheel changed. You will have to have an authorized person to remove it from the car... the air bag could go off during removal if not properly done.
once it has been remove you should let your insurance company know.... otherwise if you were in an accident they would find out that way. that probably would not be good.

authorized person? if you're gonna take out the steering wheel anyways, who cares if it goes off...lol
I think there's a fuse in the fusebox for the airbags...take that out, or unplug the battery....you should be fine
You can probably sell the airbag too...

If you remove the steering wheel from the car and it has a airbag in it be VARY CAREFUL. My friend removed his steering wheel from his camaro that had an airbag in it and he though he had removed on the connection and it went off after he removed it a little bit and the way he had it angled and that he didnt see it coming of course it threw his head into the window and he was knocked unconsious and thankfully he was doing this in my friends body shop and Ryan called an Ambulance. Just be vary vary careful if you do this and make sure you take all precautions and remove all the wires and stuff

There is a shutoff for all SRS restraining systems, if you have the Mazda Chilton manual it tells you how to disable it. If you don't post back and I'll look it up in mine for you.

Just crash your car so the airbag goes off, then you can take off the steering wheel and replace it with a custom one......LOL....(sarcasm). Just kidding, I know it sounds silly, but you might call some auto locksmiths. I had to have my airbags replaced and a locksmith came out to do the one in the steering wheel. I guess that you have to take apart the steering column to change the locks, so he had to know about airbags. It certianly would not hurt to check some locksmiths to see if they work on airbags or steering wheels.
