i want to lower my car for cheap iscutting the springs a cheap safe way to do it. i've heard some horror stories of cars gone crazy with them.. thanx

i heard clamping your springs is beter then cutting them cause:<BR>your car dosn't bounce<BR>it's reversible<BR>and it's cheap<P>but i'm not sure<BR>so don't take my word for it

i think you can get them at places like autozone for $15 or so. i too have heard that they give you a very stiff, sporty ride and is a better alternative than cutting the springs.

If you have ever looked @ a lowered cars springs, esp an MX-3, the coils pretty much touch each other. If you compress these, u have now made a gap, and it wont go as low, due to the interference of the clamp. This is just a theory not yet proven, but just be aware you may encounter this. Anyone else think the same?

You can get a high quality set of lowering springs (Suspension Techniques brand) for about $160USD. I bought them for my MX-3, but needed the money and just sent them back. They were powdercoated grey and were excellent quality (you could just tell by how well they looked). i don't know if anyone else thought of this... but lowering a car is more expensive than just springs... in order to do it right, you need springs, shocks and a camber kit, or else you'll be buying new tires very soon.

What do these "clamps" look like??
