Hey, I was hopeing that someone could help me out here.. My '93 Gs (6cylinder) just started giving me problems, a couple days ago
When I'm driving, and I put it past 3000Rpm, the engine cut out completly.. I had to turn the key back, to Acc power for a few seconds, before i could restart my car.and latly its doing it at 2500Rpm?... i dont get it...
But the thing is, ive been looking around on the forums here, and none of the distributor problems, really match whats going on with my mx3.. so i dont want to put the money in to replacing that if i dont have to right now.. im really hopeing its just the fuel injector being plugged, or somethng... cause its starving out on me.. is what it seems like..
thanks in advance

nope..if it were the injectors the car would still run..what are the chances of 6 faulty injectors..slim to none..
sorry but I really think it's a disty problem..
If I get you right..you drive normally and then the engine cuts out suddenly..no power ? ..if it's that your ignition coil is fried

dammmmnnit...lol, that really isnt what i wanted to hear.. but, i guess theres not a lot that can be done about it..
so, if its the coil thats hootched.. then, i have to go replace the entire distributor.. right?.. or is there a way that i can just get thr coil replaced?...
also, does anyone know a good spot to buy such items?.. I'm from canada.. and dont know if i can get stuff shipped from the US.

read the stickied thread at the top of this forum....it tells you how to bypass your stock POS ignitor and get ur car running for like 20 bux.
Unless you want to spend $170 on a remanufactured distributor

hmmm.... i dont understand why a distributer would cost so much more anywhere else?? i went to canadian tire figuring it would be cheap, but they wanted $680.

The symptoms Nukewind described were practically the same thing I experienced and sure enough it was the distributor. And ya around here all the suppliers wanted 400-750 bucks depending on wether it was a rebuild or new. Crazy f***ers. The external coil fix was not posted at the time unfortunately. Picked up a used disty from another member fortunately.

In the UK, Mazda will charge you the equivalent of 762USD

Seems I got the same problem now aswell.
Just dies instantly when driving, and have to wait a minute or so before starting again. But when I start driving it dies again after 50-100 meters (unless I rev it, then it dies almost immediately).
Sounds like disty malfunctioning to me
Is it to late to do Gro Harlem`s HEI module and external coil mod, or would that prevent me from having to buy a new disty?

Same as I had with my disty, anything over 3K rpm, my car died. Replaced the disty, it resolved the issue.
Id HIGHLY suggest the mod mentioned my Groharlem.
