cylinder #5 spark plug becomes very loose

last winter i noticed some of my plugs tapping. that was easily fixed by tightening the plugs back in. #5 was loosest of them all then, and now it's incredibly loose again. it became so loose that when i popped the hood you could see and feel the plug wire moving. why does this keep happening?

Got the proper washers on them? Lots of expansion and contraction going on there. Over-tightening is as bad as under-tightening. The washers might also be u/s (squashed??) so maybe try changing them.

i'll double check both those things, but cylinder #5 is always the biggest problem even after a plug change. my plug wires are pretty old too and i don't think they're all sitting quite right so i'm going to try and pick up a new set. thanks for your help!

Make sure to use a torque wrench to adjust the amount of torque for the plugs like Kokaneedude
said. And get a manual for it (if you are doing it yourself).

everything is torqued to spec now so i'll just keep an eye on it and see what happens in the next couple of months.
