Engine problem... gas related?

Over the last couple of days I've noticed a problem with my engine. Basically, I'm driving along, and the whole car starts jerking subtly. It's like the engine is sputtering, but it's not quite that drastic.
I feel loss of power and pickup from the gas, and it almost feels like the car is having trouble getting a steady flow of gas.
Anyone had this problem/have suggestions of what to look at?
-Abs

when was your last tune up? cap, rotor, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc. you could also try some fuel system cleaner as well.

Might be your MAF sensor going bad.

I say go fill up your car with 93 octane...and unplug your battery for 5-10 mins...then start it back up...

I've had that problem...check your air intake (that goes from the air filter box to the throttle body) for cracks or holes. Bend it slightly and make sure there are no cracks in it. Mine looked fine, but it was all cracked on the under side... Too much air gets in and the engine will not run properly when this happens... I got a new rubber intake from the Mazda dealer for $75 CAN. Expensive, but it fixed the problem. I'll bet you that this is your problem.

Wouldnt it be a VAF and not a MAF, especially for a 92

well, i put some of that total fuel system cleaner in it today, just to see if it might be something along the fuel injection line. maybe buildup or something. havent had the problem since, but its too early to tell.
tomorrow when i go out to the car, i'll check around the air filter etc to see if i see any problems there.
-Abs
