Just replacing the valve guides would be expensive (somebody posted prices recently, the parts alone are like $500) and you wouldn't go to the trouble of pulling the heads and have them machined without replacing the guides. You could have the heads port-matched to the intake and exhaust manifolds, and have the insides cleaned up and polished, but I can't imagine this all being worth more than a 10% or so bump in horsepower.<p>I think we have to fall back on "The best $/HP mod for a V6 MX-3 is still a 2.5L swap."

I don't know anyone that has ever rebuilt a set of K series heads and replaced the valve guides. When I did my heads 2 months ago I found that my valve stem to valve guide "play" was still in factory spec eventhough they had over 100k on them. If you going to rebuild a set of heads you will ALWAYS replace the valve seals and I would lap the valves with some valve grinding compound. I ported and polished my DE heads myself but didn't got with a multi angle valve job because I believe it does very little with the way our heads are designed. My belief is that the difference is made in porting not shelling out a ton of dough to cut small angles that are smaller then a 1/32. But thats just my opinion. If you want any pics of the head rebuild let me know, still have been too lazy to create a site explaining how I did my rebuild.
