Power Window Switch

My driver's side power window switch died recently. The passenger side switch went first, then the driver's side. I was getting set to buy a new one (about $170 US new) when I figured, what the hell, let's take apart the broken one and see if it can't be fixed. Nothing to lose, after all.
Turned out that all that was wrong was the plastic part you grab with your finger had cracked. It would work to put the windows down--because then you were pushing the cracked parts together--but when you need to put the window up, there wasn't enough leverage on the little lever that actually works the switch itself.
Solution? Well, my rule of thumb is usually to duct tape anything broken, but since here we're talking a small little piece, I glued it back together. I used some super-duper expoxy stuff, but I think good old model glue (or maybe contact cement) would have been better--you want something thin enough to flow into the crack, and something that will actually fuse the plastic back together.
I don't know if this would work for all the dead switches out there, but if yours is feeling 'loose' when you put up the window, this might be something to keep in mind.
cheers....
