Custom Intake Question

Hey guys,
These boards are great, I've been reading as a guest for over a year now and I've finally decided to register. The FAQ section has been very helpful for me to do some cheap mods to my car without killing my bank account.
My car recently started having idle problems it would bounce at low rpm and then shut off. After using the search feature I found out that it could be a cracked intake hose (which it was).. so I went out to Home Depot and bought the following:
2 x 3" Silicone Plumbing Adapters
1 x 3/4" Brass Fitting
1 x 3" 90 degree bend
1 x 10' section of 3" PVC pipe
Then I went to the local Autozone and looked at the K&N conical air filters. They have what looks like a 2.5" aluminum hole in the bottom. How would I connect my 3" PVC to this air filter and not have an air leakage?
Thanks,
JD

Thanks lazzyie!
I went back to the auto shop and they had the RU-3130 in stock. And it was cheaper! Only $32! It clamped itself right on the PVC with no problems at all.
The intake sounds great and I have no more idleing problems. I've only got a few other stupid questions..
I used the 3/4" brass fitting and some silicon to put that hose next to the TB into the intake (after the VAF).. but the other small vaccum tube that connected to the old "lunch box" is just sitting in the car unconnected. I plugged it up with a golf tee so it wouldn't suck anything bad up but I got a CEL, so I took the golf tee back out.
Can I just leave this sitting unplugged in the engine bay or do I need to get a small 1/8" or so brass fitting and connect it after the VAF?
Also there were two vaccum hoses going into something with an electric sensor plugged in that were mounted on the air filter box, I just tie wrapped them back, is that ok?
Last question, there is a plastic underbody under the intake side of the car. This seems like it would block cold air coming into the intake, but also would block water if I ran into a big puddle. Would it be safe to take this off for more cold air? Or would I be better off leaving that thing on so I don't suck up any water from the road?
[ September 25, 2002: Message edited by: NCRedGSV6 ]

for the small hose u have plugged get a small brass fitting and connect it to the tube by the other 3/4" fitting. the piece with the two hoses connected just needs to be stabalized. i made a bracket to help support the weight of this intake setup so i just mounted it there.
Dan
