Oxygen sensor not needed?

by chance
My MX-3 GS has been running crappy lately. It seems like it trips over itself on take off and has very little power. I hooked it up to my buddy's scanner and it displayed codes 16 and 17. Code 16 is a bad left O2 sensor so I got another one off a junked Mx-3 and started to swap them. while doing this I had an idea. I took my car for a drive with the old sensor still in but unplugged. It ran great. I don't know how this could be. I assumed the car wouldn't even idle, but it runs great, smooth take offs and lots of power. <P>If someone with a good running car could disconnect their O2 sensor and let me know how it ran I would really appreciate it. Someone more knowing please write back.

O2 sensors aren't all that expensive. Go to Nopi or <A HREF="

I'm sorry, it read 16 and 17. 17 is the o2 sensor not 16. I only pulled the front one.<BR>Better gas mileage or not it still runs considerably better. Tomorrow I'll put the other one I have in and see what that does. I just thought the whole thing was kind of interesting.
