People are saying how the GS motors are built bad and mazda built bad motors? Do they stand up to the expectations? if not does the KLZE?

My GS motor is a 92 with over 133k and i have no problems with it. the only thing is the loud tapping noise which is a $10 spring that needs to be replaced. other thatn that the motor still runs strong and no sign of anything goin wrong.<BR>Dan

About the clicking noise, guys you pobably also want to check your hydraulic tensioners. It costs around 500 USD (yuck !). I had to have it replaced and now my car is not clicking at all. Just my two cents it mi9ght just be your little 15 sporing though.

That ticking noise you guys are talking about has nothing to do with springs. It's your Cam Shaft Friction Gear! I went though this last winter...C$1137.77 later

My engine is at 220Km and still sings whenever I turn the key :)
(the V6 that is. I have no idea if that is the GS or RS. They're not named that way over here. :) )<p>Who ever told you that Mazda engines are crap were wrong. There's a reason that Ford used Mazda engines in various models :)

Engines are generally sweet, don't remember hearing anyone say that they'd blown one up, it's usually the stuff attached to the engine that gives trouble - the K8 block and internals are similar or the same as the 200hp KL!

Mazda HLA's are known to "click" in the 90's models. They fixed it with larger oil openings in models starting in about 98'. And the springs have nothing to do with it, they simply press against the HLA's, the small holes in the HLA's are easily clogged and cause the noise, and even then, it isn't a big deal if it goes ignored, unless it ALWAYS makes that sound, even after it warms up (and the oil gets thin like water). Then you should consider replacing them.<p>And whoever told you mazda motors are crap is a moron. These motors have some damn good internals compared to a lot of cars out there. The K series are built to rev, the B series are built to boost.

People are responding to a 2 year old post who doesn't even post here any more, but yea I agree totally to the quote below.<p>"And whoever told you mazda motors are crap is a moron. I think that there would be a FAQ regarding the typical problems of the K series engines, such as the oil pump spring failure that causes the 6th cylinder rod bearing to go out ( I had discovered on my engine that this happened to the previous owner of my car, as the crankcase cover had the mark of the rod, and checked my oil pump spring and it was way below the specs!)
