Rattling at 1200 revs

Hi,
I have noticed a 'rattling' sound from underneath my car when the the rev counter passes around 1200 revs (in a range of 1100 to 1500 revs).
This only happens when the car is moving, and is most noticable in first/second gear.
Any ideas what this could be? I am getting it checked at a garage in a couple of days, but I would appreciate any comments.

-------------------------------
1992 Black V6 MX-3, 70,000 miles

I too have the same kind of sound rattling MY nerves...turns out to be a loose heat shield and since I plan on upgrading the system, I have'nt bothered to remediate the situation; for what it's worth, I would first look into solving this on my own rather than taking it to a shop...that is-of course- just my opinion. Lots of luck lad.
[This message has been edited by mendel00985 (edited August 25, 2001).]

Thanks for the comments - the problem was near the heat shield, but is actually a leaking Catlytic Converter. They will need to take the heat shield off to see how bad it is.
If they cannot weld it to fix it, it will be mega bucks for a replacement :/

Why not go through the many posts & replies covering the subject of cat. converters as well as the other components in the exhaust sys. before committing yourself to the first shop offering an opinion? There are inexpensive replacement parts which will give you improved performance w/o breaking the bank....lotsa luck.....Manny
