whats a good place to ground my amp, because i grounded my amp onto my back seat, and also i grinded to bare metal and it still makes that wistling sound.

Steve if you grinded the paint and the terminal is seated tight that should be fine. Try to get a ground loop isolator on your RCA's that should help out.
Search in the other post about ground in the engine compartment. On some cars the factory ground is not that great. Reinforcing your ground will also help. I did mine and the whining stopped completely.

As Dot zero said. Grind away the paint and attach a loop isolator to your rca. JUst find a nice solid piece of FRAME to run the ground to. You should have no problems. And I wouldn't recommend using a stock ground, and definantly NOT the rear seat . Personal opinion.

You have to pick a place that is part of the body. Try the shock tower or trunk floor. You need to sand the area down to metal.

if look at the back of your trunk where your cover is for your jack. take it off, take out the jack, and the unit it sits in has a lag bolt nearest to you, put it there, thats the only ground i could find that work. i tried everything else and blew like 10 fuses.. and those 80s werent cheap to replace.. lol

Let us know which one shorts out first, the amp or the headunit.

umm, doesn't anyone else use the seat belt bolt? Thats what I used, and was told to use.

You can assuming once again, the paint and primer etc. is all stripped first. Some cars the seat belt bolt isn't electrically coupled to the car properly, though. That's why I always stick with big expanses of sheet metal. Can't go wrong. Just make sure it's cinched tight, and use bolts from behind if the screw keeps coming loose.

ive got all my amps grounded to the bolt on the bottom rear seat, no problem at all, where are you getting whinning from sub, door speakers. what do you have for equipment. are your rca's running beside your power wire, this very rarely makes noise but you never know, all wires new, good quality.
