Since that ive upgraded it to DVD-ROM, CD-RW, 120GB Maxtor hard drive added 256MB memory, but Im not satisfied with its performance anymore, not quick as Id want it to be, besides theres so many viruses that when i installed McAfee it puts virus into anti virus program damn... I dont even know if its funny or I should cry
well I need to upgrade it and get rid of all viruses, what would be nice lil setup for processor something faster, Ive researched and theres not really anything available. I was suggested to upgrade to whole new processor with motherboard, and I guess ill upgrade video card too since my old one is crappy and soldered into motherboard. I dont really wanna spend whole lot on stinkin comp since i know it will be obsolete in 2 yrs. Id rather invest into my cars. What are your suggestion out there computer geeks

well, you might wann cruise around
,www.iamnotageek.com, awsome PC related forum, i got by Precidia over there
there isny much you can do other than a new mobo and processor and if you get a decent mobo and proc you will have to buy a new vid card, and if you go to a newer mobo you wont be able to use your RAM at all since 99% of mobos now use what is called DDR (Double Data Rate) memory, i would also upgrade the case too since you moving up sine that old e-machines case wont have the airflow needed to help cool a higher end PC
www.newegg.com is an awsome place to shop, good prices, if you want you can give me what your willing to spend and what you plan to use the PC for (ganmes, e-mail checker, etc...) and i can see what i can piece together for ya

If you are looking for parts, aside from the aforementioned newegg.com (very good to deal with), I would also suggest tigerdirect.com (also good dealings) and zipzoomfly.com, formerly googlegear.com.
It's time to really consider replacing that thing. The mobo isn't going to support anything recent. It's the backbone from which you build your computer from. Don't skimp on that part. Asus puts out some pretty nice boards, upgrading the BIOS is a snap.

hyper threading is a intel only thing where it makes your operating system and other programs act like you have 2 processors but you only have one, its just a fancy way to get a small boost in performance

I've seen some ads at our local Fry's electronics, and they have a barebone system for $150-200. The cheaper ones are with no monitor. Has keyboard, mouse, speakers, case, socket A mobo, with XP2400 CPU, 256 DDR ram, 40GB harddrive, 128bit videocard, XP home OS. Not too bad to start, and definetly an upgrade from your pentium system.
