References to God in anything to do with the Government shouldn't be there in the first place. It's a little sad to see it took almost 50 years to at least strike that down.

I agree with Andrew. :D<P>However, I think it's pathetic that a woman's group in Canada wants the Canadian national anthem changed because it says "thy sons command." <P>I think Superintendent Chalmers says it nicely (The Simpsons):<P>"A prayer in public school! God has no place within these walls...just like fact has no place in organized religion" <P>ahh Simpsons...is there any other show (besides Seinfeld) that you can quote on almost every topic? :D

:) Great words of wisdom.<P><BR>What bothers me about this though is that the pledge of allegiance was pefectly fine before they added in the reference to god. This court ruling simply suggests they should remove that reference and return to the original pledge. There is no need to have the god reference in the pledge of allegiance.<P>However to show you how ignorant and stupid a lot of Americans are. They are taking this news as the entire the pledge of allegiance is somehow wrong or something. That's not true, its only the god reference.<P>As for Canada and the "thy sons command." line. I don't think that will ever change for the simple reason that Canadians don't care enough to bother changing something like that.

"under God" was added for religious purposes, therefore it just needs to be taken back out as already stated.<P>its nice to see something changing. the purpose of the government is to ensure all citizens' rights are protected, not just the majority.

honestly i think the person that requested that that be taken out should get the crap kicked out of them. and yes i was in school when we had to say it EVERYDAY in elementary and middle school. i go to church but not that much and i can tell you tht i dont really care that it said that it the pledge of allegance. everyone that i went to school with also never really cared that it said that either. i think they should leave it up to the kids at school to decide on whether or not the pledge should even be said at school. im just tired of all these old-pissy-i-have-nothing-to-do-in-my-life-but-to-screw-other-peoples-way-of-life-up people who think that theyre helping when all their oing is just pissing people off. like i said they should get the crap kicked out of them. but thats my opinion. H.B.H.K has a point, why change something that isn't hurting anyone? Honestly I beleive that if God was in the schools we wouldn't be in the situations we are in now with kids carrying guns to school. For me its God but just by having some type of religion would not hurt anyone. Yes I said it everyday in elementry and middle school and look at me. im fine and dandy! :D

natural born honda killer - Like most Americans I see interviewed about it on TV you just don't quite get it. It's not a question of whether the Pledge should be said in schools or not. It's a question of whether it should be said in it's present form. Simply removing the god reference would solve that, the god reference was only added in the 50's during the paranoia of communism. It serves absolutely no purpose having in there and it should be removed since it wasn't even originally there.

its kinds of off the subject here but on the topic of "what's this world coming to"... scientists mixed goat and spider dna. Instead of milk, full grown females produce milk which can be treated to produce a fibre thats five times stronger than steel. The goats are 1/70,000th spider. This is gonna make billions. I wish I knew about investing.

well im syaing that i was saying the exact word for word pledge they are getting pissed off about. i never once felt offended about it and neither did anybody at our school. plus im sure that everybody is used to the way it is said now and not the way it was. so the way it is said now should be the way it stays and i say screw the one person it pisses off. cause if they change it (in which it wont happen) theyre gonna sacrifice the feelingsa of millions for one little piss ant athiest (not ment to offend any athiest). i mean that sounds pretty ridiculous to me. plus that guy that started this is now gonna have fame in the athiest world cause he found something to b---- about. i think that if he does get it changed he'll have to go into hiding cause theres already been death threats on his life. plus with everything that happened september 11th i cant believe theres a jack a-- in this world that would have the gaul to even suggest something as ludicrous as this. im sorry but when someone tries to screw with something like that i get a little pissy. thank you for letting me vent :)

Well..its a country where we are aloowed to say what we please. I don't think it is wrong to say God in the pledge. Like someone said before, they just needed something new to cause troubles for. Hopefully by the time you read thisa certain Admin would have left my post alone and take that gay sig away too!

you still don't get it though. no one is saying that the whole pledge is wrong. the "under God" part is the problem. yes ppl can say what they want and they can say the under god part if they want. but you can't be forced by a gov. institution to recognize God. the gov. has no part in religion. everyone isn't religous, so the gov. can't just be for those ppl, it has to work for the non-religious too.<P>the pledge can re-enter schools etc, but it should drop the "under God".<BR>please leave the attacks in Sept. out of this too. everyone seems to love using this tradgey to further their own agenda, and its disrespectful and ridiculous to try.

here in virginia we have a damn minute of silence and have to say the pledge. i think it is a waste of time; between the morning announcements, the silence and standing and sitting youve lost 10 min. of instruction time. even though we r by no means forced to say the pledge i still disagree with it on the grounds of separation of church and state. what about the athiests, secular humanists, and persons of other riligions that don't deal with "God"? i just think that if it was more open it would be better tolerated. <BR>but regardless, some one will have something to say...

I would like to see it stay just as it is, but then again, I don’t really care that much. Just a couple thoughts:<BR>1) If the government does not support GOD, then it is supporting ATHIESM; a religion.<BR>2) Our founding fathers founded this nation upon GOD and the Christian religion.<BR>3) Who really cares? Does it really bother people that much to say it? They can just not say that part if they don’t feel like it. Heck, people might not agree with any of it, so let’s just get rid of the whole thing! Got to be politically correct!
