Mah car has only 59k on it and all of a sudden the muffler got like really loud. I would also like to know if i can gain some hp by takin the spark arrester off of it or if i should keep it on for other reasons.

is the exaust rusty?? ... if so it might of gotten a hole in it... start ur car, and look/listen under it for any holes... that could be ur problem... i know i have a hole in mine...i kinda like the sound tho lol

Well it most likely is rust, i have owned several mazdas, and everyone before 99 had serious exhaust rust problems, just a mazda thing i guess.

i would say you need a new exhaust had a hole in mine and didnt mind the sound also...but had to replace it for a safty inspection.

At 90k KMs my muffler went... it detached where the pipe goes into the muffler. Due to how the piping fits it was either new factory muffler, or aftermarket and get a place to do the custom piping for it.

I went for the aftermarket.
