Bent timing cover? ('95 1.6L DOHC)

Hey, folks.
I pulled off my upper timing cover to look at the timing belt tonight and found the source of a quiet hissing noise around the area of my timing belt. The upper and middle pieces of the three-piece timing cover are barely in contact with the water pump pulley, and it rubs on them when it turns. How close should the cover be to the pulley? Sound like it might be bent out of shape and need replacement? I'll pull the entire cover off and reinstall when I have a little more time on my hands.
Thanks,
Darren
