Gas Filter

I am just wondering if someone has changed their gas filter themselves. I have done it on other cars but not my mx-3. Just wondering if the task was hard or not. Also is the filter up by the motor or right by the tank. I am asking because I think getting car onto ramps at a garage is out of question at the current moment
Thanks

The Fuel Filter is a reasl bastard to get to-- even on the 1.6L SOHC, and even more so on the v6.
its located behind the engine, on the firewall near the middle (below the Intake manifold). Its a canister looking thing with a prong sticking up , & one sticking down.
Its a cylinder that a bit smaller than a can of Coke.

When do you know it's time to change the gas filter?

It should be a part of your scheduled maintenence. Every 20,000 miles is a good time to do it.
