alrighty, i hav ethe 1.6l sohc engien, i was wondering if i could slap the 1.6dohc head right on to my block, will it fit, what esle do i need to buy, besides the head, cams, gears, and a new timingblet, will i need bigger injectores, will the timing be messed up. i would rather have the dohc engine, i have full use of a shop and junkyard so parts will be no problem. 2nd, whats the biggest bore i can run on the 1.6l, and the longest stroke for the 1.6. id like to bore and stroke the motor and get some new internals and maybe throw a turbo on it. any infor will be appriciated.
THANKS jjennings153@hotmail.com :freak:

He has the b6e....BP or B6ZE/B6T would be suitable though. To swap to the dohc head, the water pump has to be changed over, intake and exhaust manifolds and of course the head. Biggest bore is 2mm but that is pushing it. Stroke has been as high as 4mm (I believe). Toda makes a stroker kit that pushes the 1.6L to 1.9L but the cost is a sweet $3500.

thanks for the info, i would to the bp or kl swap but thts a lot of work, i just wanna get repectable horsepower outta the 1.6, im shooting for liek 120- 140 i just dotn think my single cam can hold up to the task of a turbo, so maybe ill just build a n/a engine, what kind of pistons/cam/intakmainfold..should i get. and does any one make a header for the 1.6???
thanks for all the info. any more will help to  jjennings153@hotmail.com

The BP isnt to much work. Talk to Marlon about it. He has done it, and I think it requires a lot less work then the BPT.

It is a lot more work to remove the engine for boring and rebuild for a stroker crank/rod combo. Start with something better. You will get more power out of a NA BP than stroking the B6e and a head swap.

putting the bp in is just like putting your stock engine in(pretty much)
it's a really easy swap
if you want some info on it just search theres ALOT of info on the swap and if u still got ?'s just ask

Does anyone know of a "GOOD Mechanic," that will not take your bank to the cleaners for an engine swap in the GTA. I have a 1.6L SOHC and I would like to spend about a fair amount on getting a better engine. Now the thing is I have been reading and learning about engine swaps but I don't really understand everything. So any help on this would be great. I have called a few places and they told me that a 1.8L DOHC would kill my car, plus that everything right up to the calipers on the brakes would have to be changed due to the increase in power. Is this correct or just a line? Any help would be great.

hm so its possible to do that now? interesting. the argument on this topic was that it wouldn't fit because of the different exhaust housing (header) flanges right? but everything else should fit and is same width? :welder:

Yeah, i would be interested in a good shop who could do the BPT swap for me for a fair price and the least wait. I would be willing to dish out 2500-3000 CDN$ and come out of the shop with the BPT. Or i want to at least push about 170-190 out of my DOHC (i know this might be kind of hard, but jon did it and it seemed to be pretty good) this info could really help. :sadwavey:
