Final Notes BPD swap

After fixing just about every problem I could locate with my BPD swap, I have one last problem. Update on what I have done so far:
1. swapped the BTD with Escort GT ECU
2. Replaced all accessories with new one, alt, starter
3. Changed all of the O-rings on the fuel injectors and ran 500 miles with fuel injection cleaner
4. Upgraded to an ACT Dual Friction cluth
I am still having one problem! When I reach high RPM's the car sputters as if their is a fuel problem. The can accelerates smooth almost perfect then when you hit 4.5-5 grand in 1st gear it starts sputtering. Then in second through 4th gear it sputters at around 5-5.5 grand. It also "Sputters" when I try to keep the car at a certain speed. It is almost like the way a car acts when it hits the rev limiter except it still accellerates just skips the whole way. I was wondering if the ignition coil is different than the MX3 but I seriously doubt that. What I am really wondering is if my fuel pump isn't sufficiant but looking at the two Haynes manuals each engine has about the same fuel pressure.
Any one can offer me help would be greatly appreciated!

you're fuel pump is fine, as long as it works properly. is it specificly in those rpm ranges? does it ever happen at other times?

No it doesn't happen any time in low RPM's only in high RPM's. I never seen anything like it. I am almost positive the problem resides in the fuel system.

Check to see if your cat is clogged.. the mx3 fuel pump works fine i have had no such problems.. unbolt it from before the cat and tie it off to the side.. and give it a runn.. careful its LOUD but man its fuun

Well I can assure you it isn't my car, I parted from my cat a year ago in favor of a louder exhaust. Emissions is lax in louisiana besides they don't have the machine to test emissions in the inspection center.

It dosen't sound like a fuel problem. Have you checked out your VICS to see if it's acting up?

Okay here is all I know about the VICS. I am still running the wiring harness of the 1.6 engine. The wiring harness didn't match up with the fuel injector wiring strip (black strip with all wires in it mounts parrallel with fuel rail) so I altered and swapped the 1.6 electronics mated to the 1.8l fuel rail. That worked perfectly sept for the fact that the 1.6l engine has 1 silenoid and the 1.8l has 2. Well I hooked the silenoid to the VICS and instead of the butterflys opening at 5,000 RPMS, they stay open all the time. Should I disconnect them or leave them open?

It may be the other way around. The butterfly valves are probably closed and are not activating at 4500 rpms. The solenoids need to be hooked up in order for them to work properly; that's how they're engaged. IMO, you may need the 1.8 harness.

That is just it one of the sileniods is hooked up the one to the VICS system. The other one I'm not sure what it is and to no suprise it isn't talked about in the haynes manual. I just don't think that the silenoid is working properly on the 1.6 harness since that engine didn't have the VICS.

it has something to do with the ecu. when i had the bpt in running the mx-3 ecu reprogrammed it did the same thing. mine was at like 3-4k rpm. not sure what it was but i think it was too much fuel or something but thats just a guess as nobody i knew was able to figure it out. thats the reason i went ahead and got the haltech. if you can afford it get the haltech.

just get the right wirring harness and ecu and you won't have any problems, trust me i know, and u need vics it helps alot
when my vics wasnt working i couild only beat my friend with a sunfire by like 2 car lenghts and now when it's working and with a bad clutch i can beat him by 6

good deal then. I have the right ECU I am just going to have to get the wiring harness. I asked a few different places before the swap and they said the swap could be done on the same wiring harness. I guess it could be done just not as effective. I plan on turbo'ing this engine just not going to be dumb enough to do it while it is still untunned. BTW how much PSI maximum can be run safely with the BPD? (Stock internalls)

i'm going to be running about 15 with a hal or sds

One last question and then you can help someone who needs it more than me (we'll lay this discussion to rest). I noticed the only discrepencies with the BPD and B6e wiring harnesses is the throttle body connector and the fuel rail electronics connector. If I were (I have the cut wiring harness of the BPD) to splice the cut harness in to the MX 3 harness, how would I go about locating the pin out of the ECU for the VICS? What about the pinout for the extra prong on the TB? Is this entirely unrealistic?
