transmision, need help !

The other day i let my mom drive the car, she used to drive stick back in the day. She comes back and the damn thing makes noises. She said she ****ed up a few times but noting major (ya rite). The noise is like trrrrrr, it does it even when im in neutral. The only time it does not do it is when im in gear and foot on the gas pedal, if my foot is off it makes the noise. What do i do!!!!!!! How much will i have to dish out for this?
