has anyone evr had their valve cover polished or chromed. if so how much was it and how much is a new valve cover to put on till i get the original done mine looks like poo right now.<P><A HREF="http://www.firststatebmx.com/other/engine.jpg" TARGET=_blank>a pic of my valve cover not very good </A><P>right now it looks like it had whit mold growing on it but i polished it in one spot for like 10 min and now it looks grey but still not good

Maybe you can get the outside of it chrome plated.<P>Or you can probably get some metal polish and polish it up. If you go this route make sure it's safe for high temp stuff....<P>Also you can get high temp ceramic paint from most auto stores. A lot of people use this to paint their valve cover, and brake components the same color.

Next use a 200 to 280 to remove the previous scratches and than a finer grit, and than finer. Finishing grits are roughly 400 and up. My finishing grit is a 1500, which is really fine, making every scratch dissapear. The polish you use is up to you. I use blue magic. All of this is available at any auto parts store.<P>It will help if you are using a power sander to make things faster. I did most of mine by hand, but I have the BP valve cover which is more difficult to polish with a power tool.
