I just got a 1994 RS MX-3 with 100000kms on it. It is in good running condition, passed a mechanics inspection and safety with no problems or possible trouble spots.<P>What I'm looking for is some performance mods that are affordable and I can do myself if at all possible. This is my first car, I don't know a huge amount, but I would like to and want to learn by doing. I'd appreciate anything you could offer from oil to gas grade to actual mods to the engine that would give me a boost in preformance.

Not so long ago I was in your boat for this. The first thing I did was bought a generic cone filter, I gotta APC "intimidator" cause it fit right over the MAFS w/out any other mods. It sounds way cooler, and if the engines not too hot, it helps a ton! But You need sum way to get cold air up to it, or fresh air. But, the next thing i'm gonna do is a 2 and 1/4" exahust, cause I plan to swap engines here soon. After a long time of researching, the engine swap is the most cost efficient ways of gettin serious HP. Also the exahust will actually help my new engine, where as other stuff I do to this engine won't. Well hope this helps!! Good luck man

Go for the PRM Jet Stream cold air intake from <A HREF="

Takes about an hour or two and it's better than the cone filter because it's taking cold air from the fenderwell so you don't have to worry about the engine temp affecting your air intake.
