stalling prob has hit me
stalling prob has hit me
alright when I slow down from high rpms, 4000 or so my car will die...the idel starts at like 1400 when car is on but goes to 500 eventually, and bounces up and down at stop...when I hit the brakes the idle drops, when I hold my power window switch down, the rpms drop...ive looked for leaks but the power window switch leads my to believe alternator or distributer, which one??
Ryan

Re: stalling prob has hit me
sounds like compression problem, or fuel pump
Re: stalling prob has hit me
why would air compression have anyhting to do with power windows? I can see the relation to brakes but brakes are also semi electrical, so I deducted its with the electric system somwhere...just dont see how an air leak would make my power window switch lower the rpm...could some one else get back to me on this? distributer, alternater?
Ryan

Re: stalling prob has hit me
first of all alternator has nothing to do with stalling... it keeps your battery charged... if that would be alternator your battery would drain in two days and your charging lite would go on. Distributor cap, sure ... if you have a crack in it and the water gets inside that could cause the stalling, or if it's been changed 4 years ago.
tell me whats a compression?
Re: stalling prob has hit me
Why your brakes?Look at the fire wall from the front of your car.You see the vacuum hose that runs from your master cylinder hub if thats what its called. To your intake manifold. The hose is right below to the side of the hose that goes from your pressure regulator sol.
Re: stalling prob has hit me
Forgot to mention.Eliminate the could be's in the problem.First spray down all hose and gaskets from throttle body.If not ck the components that have to do with air and fuel.Ck your TPS,air flow meter, and the isc(Idle speed control)located below the throttle body.Give me a holla if u need help.
Re: stalling prob has hit me
Just a quick little note about the alternator. If all the alternator does is charge the battery then how does the vehicle maintain operating voltage while driving. I have had the same problem as you and have already changed the TPS, to no avail. I have now discovered that the water pump is starting to sieze up and is making some noise. I believe that this is causing a drain on the system voltage, due to the fact that the belt running the pump also runs the alternator.
Re: stalling prob has hit me
well I posted about hearing a squealing sound when I hit the gas pedal hard, could this be the pump being clogged or siezing up? just wondering...I jsut dont want to take it in, not know whats wrong, and they replace a buncha stuff, which I dont have the money for, and then still have the prob...thanks
ryan
