I've heard some ppl say that a torn intake duct(if thats whats its called)I'd start by buying yourself a can of intake cleaner and while the car idles spray around the throttlebody gaskets, hoses and rubber duct.

I have that problem too. check all your vacum lines and your fuel filter I also had this problem with a 626 I had a while back I fixed it by replacing the fuel filter and pump and having the injectors cleaned, check out all that stuff there are alot of things that can make your idle do that. your idle should be set at 700 rpms..

Egr valve will cause it to idle low, almost to the point of stalling. I had to replace it at 160,000 miles. I would do a tune up first and then check for vacuum leaks. If thats not it, test the egr with a vacuum pump. It's easy.

I have a 1.6 dohc, and yes you have an egr valve on yours. It's on the right hand side of you're intake manifold, below the throttle body.
