I know the exact feeling. I actually had trouble with my tranny last year and in 2nd gear i would be at 6000 RPM's and it wouldn't shift, i would have to play with the gas like a maunal tranny. I had it looked at and i had my fluid flushed which didn't do a thing and then I had the transmission adjusted. A transmission specialist said he adjusted it, and I havn't had a problem since. I was debating weather to get a new one, but then it was fixed.
WHen I stop at a stop sign and if i continue to roll, and then hit the gas, there is a jerk and i think that is bad too, but i believe that is just the norm for an auto MX-3.

well, we've had sooooooo many problems with the current mx, he'd be a fool to risk buying another one. it a good import for the most part, but not the best. it comes way too slow from the factory.
::hides for fear he'll be lynched!::

Hey! I have the auto 4 cyl. too here and i just want to say that it is really slow....but i have had my mx for 10 years and she has never given me any problems with the tranny or shifting....but...if she does..would it be a waste of time to try and get a standard tranny put in? my day car is a stick, and i like making the decisions when to shift (not the car)...am i crazy to try?
