I just joined to sort a few things out. I dont own an MX-3 but a friend of mine has an AZ3
Its one of the 1500 versions and he says it has 101kw from stock. I calculated this to be 135hp which seems 20 more than i find listed on the net.
He reackons he can put a 1800 4WD engine out of a 323 GTX Turbo in it complete with 4WD. Dont like arguing with people until i have so facts, but in my experience with other types of cars this is not possible. Is this possible?
Paul

Your can do ANYthing if you have the $$. Not saying Mx-3 owners are poor or anything, and noone take offense to this, but if I had the $$ to convert an MX-3 to AWD, Id saw screw that and buy me a Imperza WRX 4wd. You can put the 1.8L motor in a 4cl mx-3, but requires alot of work, like a diff tranny, wiring, ECU, mounds, axles, ect. Some have done it. But spending that much money on an engine swap, I see as a waste, you cah get a v6 mx-3 and put a KLZE in it for that much.

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
<A HREF="

Your friend is almost correct. My AZ3
has a 1495cc B5-ZE engine which develops
120/6500 PS/rpm. These engines are limited
to the Japanese market.About your friend
converting his 2wd to 4wd I am not sure if
it can be done by an enthusiast. Would be
keen to exchange notes about AZ3 with your
friend.
-Alapatidev
